Project description:
The City Council of Burjassot, as an initiative of the Department of Education, has signaled its public spaces with ARASAAC pictograms, clear and schematic images that represent them, with the aim of helping people with autism or other oral communication problems to interpret and understand the reality that surrounds them through images.
This integrative action, launched by the City council of Burjassot, has been developed thanks to the motion approved unanimously, in November 2016, which collected the signage by pictograms of the public spaces of the municipality to facilitate their identification and integration of people with autism and communication problems.
To carry out this signage, pictograms of the Aragonese Portal of Augmentative and Alternative Communication ARASAAChave been used, property of the Government of Aragon.
In this first phase, a total of 68 pictograms have been used to mark public spaces and has installed these images in places such as the City Council itself, the library, firefighters, football fields, social centers, Post Office, the Adult Public School, the Municipal Market or the Local Police and parks, among others.
From ARASAAC,we want to convey our congratulations for the initiative and continue lending our collaboration to continue promoting cognitive accessibility in all spaces of the municipality.
To carry out this initiative, pictograms from the Aragonese Portal for Augmentative and Alternative Communication ARASAAC, owned by the Government of Aragon, have been used.
